Forum presentations & outcomes 2023

On 21–22 August, the Nordic Electricity Market Forum (the annual event of the Nordic Electricity Market Group) took place in Copenhagen, gathering more than 90 stakeholders from the Nordic electricity market community. Everyone was represented – the producers, consumers, exchanges, TSOs, regulators, and ministries in the Nordic region.

Participants enjoyed a packed two day program of keynote speeches, moderated break out sessions and lots of mingling and networking with colleagues from other Nordic countries. Keynote speakers included Karen Ellemann, Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, and Lars Aagard, Danish Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities.

The topic for this years Forum was “Lessons learned”, where participants explored lessons learned from emergency market intervention measures to tackle high energy prices in the winter of 2022/2023. Drawing from these experiences, the participants discussed future needs and proposed actions for developing the Nordic/European power markets to be better fit to tackle next possible energy shocks. For an overview of the discussions, please read Messages from the Forum

The discussions during the Forum have been a valuable input for the Nordic ministries and the regulators.
